As a trauma therapist, I specialize in helping individuals heal from the effects of trauma while highlighting the importance of mindfulness. I understand the importance of creating a trusting relationship with clients and valuing their perspectives while providing a non-judgmental and empathetic approach to therapy. My goal is to encourage the intervention of emotional, behavioral, and traumatic difficulties while being culturally, sexually, and gender sensitive.
My main techniques are rooted in but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Dialectical behavior therapy which are evidence-based treatments used to assist individuals with properly coping.
With suitable tools, I believe it is possible to improve the overall quality of our lives from the inside out. I believe building resiliency, improving self-confidence, and increasing self-awareness coupled with action are the most effective.

Depression | It is imperative that these clients be provided support, guidance, and strategies to help them cope with their symptoms. They should be able to identify and address underlying issues that may be contributing to their depression, such as unresolved trauma, relationship issues, or life stressors.
Anxiety | Those with anxiety should be provided with support, guidance, and strategies to help manage symptoms. The client should be able to identify triggers and develop coping skills to help manage anxiety. They ought to be provided with education about anxiety and help to develop a plan to reduce stress and anxiety.
Trauma | It is important that those experiencing Trauma are provided a safe and supportive environment to process their experiences, helping them to identify and manage their emotions, and providing them with coping strategies to manage their symptoms. Additionally, it is important to develop a better understanding of their trauma and how it has impacted their life, as well as help them to develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving.

My ideal client is willing to engage in the therapeutic process, is open to exploring their trauma, and is committed to making positive changes in their life. This person is comfortable with constructive feedback, possible homework assignments, and developing a trusting therapeutic rapport in efforts to commit to their healing journey.

Yara is currently only providing tele-health appointments in the state of Illinois. You can conveniently work with her from anywhere in the state. We do not currently have a timeline for when our practice will transition back to providing in-person services.

I started my career in adolescent behavior health while working as a Mental health Specialist at Riveredge Hospital. I personally gained experience in both inpatient and outpatient care while meeting the varying intensity level of services needed by each client. I have worked with the adolescent and adult population providing individual, group, and couples counseling.
